Download Google Camera for Android Phones

You probably already know that taking high-quality photos requires the right equipment and that a good camera will make a big difference. But what if you don’t have a high-end DSLR or mirrorless camera? Of course, you can always use your smartphone’s camera, and there are many good phones with pretty high-quality camera modules with large (by phone standards) sensors and different focal lengths. However, almost all models have the same common problems – low quality of the resulting photos due to the built-in software. And a solution to this problem really exists – you should download Google Camera on Android and try taking photos with it. Once installed and configured, you can take advantage of some great features like HDR+, Night Sight, and many more. The quality of the resulting photos will be incomparably better in comparison with the basic software, because completely different algorithms for taking and processing photos will work, which are not found in standard camera applications from other manufacturers.

Where to download GCam APK for Android phone?

All of these ports are modified versions of the original app, made compatible with non-Pixel Android devices, and cannot be found on the official Play Market. It’s best to look for a suitable port specifically designed for your device model and Android version (make sure to check Camera2API support).

The Google Camera application can be downloaded from this site and installed on Android devices. There is a community of third party developers that ports the latest versions of GCam to most Android phones, but the originator of this idea was a man known online as BSG. It’s also worth considering that it doesn’t always make sense to rush to upgrade to a newer version, because they often come with bugs that take time to fix.

How to install Google Camera on any Android phone

In most cases, installing Google Camera on your Android phone is very simple – download the APK file and install it on your device, like any other application. But, it is worth considering that not all phones are compatible with it. For example, phones with Qualcomm Snapdragon 800/801/805/808/810 processors are not compatible, as are most phones from Huawei or Tecno.

Step-by-step guide to installing GCam

We have already reviewed a special guide on how to install an APK file.

  1. Find your phone model.
  2. Download Google Camera to your device as an APK file.
  3. Turn on installing apps from unknown sources if prompted. To do this, go to “Settings” –> “Security” –> “Unknown sources” and set the switch to the “On” position.

  4. Locate the downloaded APK file on your device through File Explorer and tap on it to begin the Google Camera APK installation process.
  5. Launch the application and grant all requested permissions, such as access to the device’s camera, microphone, geolocation, etc. It happens that permissions are not requested automatically, so you should go to the application properties and grant them manually.
  6. Configure the application using the “suggested settings”, “GCam configs” (how to install the config is described here) or the settings specified in the changelog (some mods do not need any configuration).
  7. After setting the available parameters manually or applying the config, it is advisable to restart the application.

NOTE. Please note that downloading and installing applications from unknown sources carries a certain level of risk as these files may not be scanned for malware or other security vulnerabilities. Be careful and only download APK files from trusted sources such as our website

Which GCam to install

This question is difficult to answer unequivocally, because there is no “universal” apk or configuration that works on all phones. Read on this page why there are so many versions, and how you can find the most suitable version and settings for your phone model.

Compatibility and requirements

  • Works only on phones with enabled camera2 API.
  • Mods are compatible with modern Snapdragon SoCs. Some versions work on some Exynos, Kirin and Mediatek phones, but usually with limitations.
  • ARM64, only very old versions (GCam 4) support 32 bits.
  • Latest apk may not work on older android versions.
  • GApps or microG type replacement required.
  • Only for Android.

Updating GCam

Modifications are constantly being developed, new functions and improvements are being added, bugs are being fixed, and support for certain devices is being added. Therefore, it is important to follow the updates to be aware of the latest versions and changes in them. How can I do that:

  • Add this site to your bookmarks so that you can always quickly find and download the latest version of GCam APK.
  • Subscribe to updates in the telegram channel and receive notifications when new versions become available.

Note: You can install a new version over an existing one by following the same installation process described earlier. But sometimes it is necessary to remove the previous version, that is, updating over it is not recommended.

By downloading GCam to your Android device, you gain new photography capabilities. Thanks to advanced functions, shooting a series of frames in RAW format and then merging them together into one, and excellent image processing, you can get high-quality photos even on rather weak devices.
